Saying 'Yes sir' or 'Yes ma'am' has certaintly come out of the tradition. And what about 'Please' and 'Thank you' ? Opening a door for a lady, or pulling a chair out for her? I do it, and there ain't nothin wrong with it. It's the way I was brought up, and quite truthfully if I didn't, I'd get a whuppin at my house.
